About Seenthesis: Thinking through photography in Singapore:
In conjunction with the Singapore International Photography Festival 2012, we have launched a series of educational materials and activities for school students. The response from schools were positive and encouraging. Since then, we have reached out to over 3,000 students, engaging them with well designed programmes on photography. And now we hope to expand these programmes to more youths through a comprehensive and attractive resource book for school educators.
Seenthesis: Thinking through photography in Singapore will be our first attempt to produce a comprehensive material for 1,000 school educators to incorporate photography into their teaching and engagement with classroom students. This inaugural resource book contains easy to digest information on photography theories, vivid colourful spreads introducing photographic works from Singapore, modular classroom activities based on current education curriculum, ways to present photography, supplementary activities before and after visits to exhibitions and glossary pages on photographic terms.
Underlying it all, DECK believe photography touches our youth in profound ways: in their understanding of themselves, their connection to the local and world communities and cultures, and ultimately their understanding and confidence in their own creativity.
